SO SAD HOW THE MYTH OF RAPE EXCUSES THE BEHAVIOR OF RAPISTS.
21:58
Mostly, when the word “rape” is
mentioned, first thing that comes to mind is that the offender is a
stranger; someone with no intimate relationship with his victim.
Sorry to disappoint you, even a spouse or partner in a relationship can rape the other. Only 10% of rapes are committed by strangers, 90% of rapes are committed by known men, and often someone the rape victim had previously trusted or even loved.

“Rape”
is a type of sexual assault usually involving sexual intercourse or other forms
of sexual penetration carried out against a person without that person’s
consent. This act is done by physical force, coercion, abuse of authority or
against an unconscious or incapacitated person. Survivors/ victims often find
it difficult to talk to anyone about their experiences. They fear that they
will be blamed or that they won’t be believed, hence they carry the burden
alone.
The
myth of rape ignorantly
excuses the behavior of rapists by blaming the rape victims for being
responsible for their own fate. It blames a lady for being out late at night,
it blames a lady for being attractive and wearing revealing clothes. Permit me
to say this, there is no excuse or mitigation for sexual violence and it is
never the victim’s fault. People of all ages, classes, cultures, abilities,
genders and sexualities, races and religions get raped.
No
one asks or deserves to be raped or sexually assaulted. Many have fallen
victims, some survived, some were not fortunate enough to survive the awful
experience. Some did survive but couldn’t bear the thoughts of it, which kept
lingering in their minds. Hence, they chose to commit suicide, believing it is
the best way to make everything go away. I would try not to judge them, neither
would I question their decisions because I have no idea what it feels like to
be them. All I can do is pray, that such souls be forgiven and find eternal
peace in the after-world. Amen!

Men!
Everybody can control their urges to have sex, there is no need to rape someone
for sexual satisfaction. In your relationships or marriages, learn that
everyone has the legal right to say “no” to sex and to change their minds about
having sex at any point of sexual contact. When it comes to sex, we must
respect the wishes of our sexual partner.
